Efficacy/Effectiveness

The active ingredient, finasteride, prevents hair loss by inhibiting the production of DHT, one of the causes of male pattern baldness. Although there are individual differences, it is said that the effect is usually seen after taking it every day for 3 to 6 months. You can feel the effects by using it continuously for about half a year to a year.

If you stop taking it, the treatment effect will disappear within 12 months.

 

Usage/Dosage

<Hair loss>

Please take about 1/4 tablet once a day with lukewarm water at the designated time. Finasteride is generally administered 1 mg orally once a day, and can be administered regardless of meals. There is no evidence that increasing the dose increases efficacy. Generally, you need to take it for more than 3 months to see the treatment effect, and it is recommended to take it continuously to maintain the treatment effect.

Dosage Timing: You can take it at any given time during the day. Be sure to empty it for at least 24 hours before your next dose. You can take it at any time without worrying about the effects of your diet. Do not take after drinking alcohol. Take this after sobering up. Avoid taking medicine at once that you did not take the day before.

<Hypertrophy of the prostate>

As finasteride, take 5 mg once daily with or without food – even if symptoms improve, at least 6 months of treatment is required.

Patients with renal failure: In terms of pharmacokinetics, no changes were observed upon administration of this drug, so dose adjustment is not necessary for patients with various types of renal failure.

Elderly: There is no need to adjust the dose in elderly people over 70 years of age, although the excretion of this drug is slightly reduced.

 

Precautions for use

Since finasteride is metabolized in the liver, it should be used with caution in cases of liver function abnormalities.

The effects of finasteride are not immediately apparent. Therefore, finasteride treatment may not be appropriate for people who have a large amount of residual urine or a severely reduced urinary flow rate. 5-alpha reductase inhibitors such as finasteride should be used cautiously in patients with prostate cancer, as research has shown that they increase the incidence of high-risk prostate cancer.

Some patients may experience a decrease in ejaculate volume during treatment with finasteride. This reduction in ejaculate volume does not appear to interfere with normal sexual function.

However, erectile dysfunction and decreased libido may occur in patients treated with finasteride.

 

Side effect

Symptoms of liver dysfunction and loss of appetite may occur. If you feel anything abnormal, consult a doctor immediately. Possible side effects from taking finasteride include: Decreased sexual activity (decreased libido) Erectile dysfunction Ejaculation disorder Increased breast size and tenderness Skin rash Depression

If these symptoms appear mildly, they usually disappear naturally within a few days.
