Treatment of severe malaria

Early treatment of malaria without complications if oral treatment is not possible due to persistent vomiting

Usage/capacity

Take it once a day for 3 consecutive days. Take it regardless of whether you eat or not. If you vomit within 30 minutes after taking the first dose, take the same dose again. If you vomit even after taking it again, you should take another anti-malaria drug.

1 tablet of 20 kg or more and less than 24 kg

2 tablets greater than 24 kg and less than 45 kg

3 tablets greater than 45 kg and less than 65 kg

4 tablets over 65 kg

 

Precautions for use

Artesunate + pyronaridine combination was not administered to patients with malaria prevention purposes and severe malaria.

Delayed hemolysis accompanied by decreased hemoglobin and haptoglobin and increased lactate dehydrogenase may occur more than 7 days after Artesunate administration. Patients with a higher proportion of protozoa are more likely to develop delayed hemolysis after treatment, so it is necessary to monitor the patients for 4 weeks after treatment. In addition, if severe hemoglobin reduction occurs, rapid and robust treatment is required.

Artesunate + pyronaridine complex has not been established for children weighing 20 kg or less.

Toxicity has been reported in animal experiments when pregnant women are used. The safety of medication during pregnancy in humans has not been established, nor is the potential risk known. Therefore, it is not administered to pregnant women or women who may be pregnant. Since there have been cases in which the active substance dihydroartemisin of Artesunatehas been detected in breast milk, it is recommended to avoid breastfeeding during the administration of the Artesunate plus pyrinaridine complex.

Side effects

The main side effects that can occur when administering Artesunate are as follows. If side effects occur, please inform your doctor, pharmacist, etc. and take appropriate action.

Common side effects (reported in 1% to 10% of users) Hemoglobinuria, jaundice, neurological signs and symptoms, acute renal failure, etc

Rare side effects (reported in less than 1% of users) or side effects of unknown frequency, dysfunction of balance, delirium, paraplegia, apathy, lethargy, progress, etc.

Report a post-marketing investigation and consult your doctor immediately, including side effects, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, hemolytic anemia, and hypersensitivity reactions.
